School Vision
Let your light shine
A very warm welcome to
Thank you for your interest in our school. We hope that you will find our website both interesting and informative, as well as giving a taste for what is important to us at our school.
Here at Trent, our vision, 'to let your light shine' means that our priority is for each child to flourish: to believe in themselves, to understand the impact that they can have on each other, and to be happy and healthy. We believe that is it vital that each child understands how special, unique, and valued they are and is able to make a positive contribution to our school and the wider community. Our curriculum is designed to provide all children with the best possible opportunities to experience success, and to become curious individuals who care for each other and our world.

On Friday, we had a fabulous morning in the sunshine on our spring walk. We were lucky to be able to get out to learn more about the signs of spring, the impact of the wet winter and how farmers are managing this. Thank you so much to Mr and Mrs Casely for leading our walk and for sharing their knowledge. Thank you to our amazing adult helpers for joining us for the morning too! #LetYourLightShine The Ernest Cook Trust
KS1 Trip to The Sealife Centre! What a fantastic day we had exploring life under the sea at Weymouth SEA LIFE Adventure Park! The children loved discovering all the incredible underwater creatures and learning how some of the animals are specially adapted to their habitats. The sunshine made the day even more magical, and Mr Squibb and Mrs Green were incredibly proud of the children - not just for their curiosity and enthusiasm, but also for their excellent behaviour throughout the trip. Well done KS1you were amazing! #LetYourLightShine
To add to our North Dorset netball success yesterday, our Year 5/6 footballers and Y3/4 netballers were also in action! Playing in their first ever tournament together, our netball team played fantastically together to finish as joint winners across the other Sherborne Area Schools. Our footballers came a fantastic 2nd place out of 8 other schools after narrowly losing in the final after an emphatic semi-final win on penalties! What a sporting evening for Trent Young's!! #LetYourLightShine
North Dorset Champions!! We are delighted to share that our Y5/6 netball team won the North Dorset netball tournament yesterday afternoon! Having won the Sherborne Area tournament a few weeks ago, they travelled to Gillingham School to compete against other cluster winners from Sturminster, Blandford and Gillingham. We are so proud of our team and how they played with so much determination, teamwork and sportsmanship. #LetYourLightShine
We had a WONDERful Wonderstruck experience for British Science Week! Our day began with a whole-school rocket science show where Peter demonstrated how smoke rings are made, the purpose of gun powder and quite a large balloon BANG by using a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen! KS2 then worked in pairs to create and launch their own aeroplanes or rockets by exploring forces and aerodynamics. The children competed to hit a balloon down with their models by using an automated launcher with pressurised air. After lunch, years 4, 5 and 6 came together to explore the history and science of castles. We went out in the miserable rain to enjoy a demonstration of the relative power of onager catapults, trebuchets and black powder mortar. The children worked in groups to build their own castles and then use model onager catapults to attempt to demolish them! The children thoroughly enjoyed the day and cannot wait to welcome Wonderstruck back again soon! #LetYourLightShine #BritishScienceWeek
